ABSTRACT
Spinal metastases may develop in one third of all cancer patients. The presenting symptom is usually the pain; however, metastatic involvement may result in serious problems like instability and fractures. Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty is safe and effective in treatment of pain and ensuing fractures due to metastatic involvement of spine in cancer patients. Open surgery with decompression and stabilization may not be appropriate in every patient presented solely with pain, or with multifocal vertebral involvement, or with limited life expectancy. Here in; indications, contraindications and results of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty for spinal metastases are discussed with our clinical experience and the relevant literature review.
