ABSTRACT

A classification of injuries is necessary in order to develop a common language for treatment indications and outcomes. Classification of thoracolumbar injuries have been widely studied over 75 years. The most popular classification is Denis 3 column classification. However it does not include all type fractures and do not guide physicians for treatment options. Also theses columns are based on assumption. In this study we discussed Magerlʼs classification in detail as it is the most comprehensive classification described to date. Regardless of the system used, a usefull classification system should be both reliable and valid.
