ABSTRACT

Traffic and high place falling down accidents are important etiologic factors in all trauma pati-ents. Motor vehicle and high place falling down accidents ratio are 49 % and 36.5 % respectively in Turkey. However during transportation of pa-tients to hospital in posttraumatic period, morbi-dity can increase because of stabilization and protection problem of upper cervical column and the patients can be faced with tetraplegia and paraplegia. After these type of acccidents, tet-raplegia and paraplegia were reported 32 % and 68 % sequentially in all cervical postraumatic pa-tients. C1-3 vertebrates are frequently injured vertebrates in adult patients and in these vertebrates’ injury ratio is 25-35 % in all cervical co-lumn injuries. Neurological injury was around 4560 % of upper cervical column trauma patients. From the view of physician, during the evaluati-on of patients, cervical column should not be overlooked and great care should be taken for preventive medicine.
